Gatsby at the Cottage!

February 21, 2020 | 5-8pm

Imagine, it’s the 1920’s! Flappers, jazz, the Charleston, and parties everywhere! You’ll find this at Naples Historical Society’s Historic Palm Cottage™.

Relive the Roaring 20’s. Enjoy a special cocktail from the era and a demonstration of the dance that took the country by storm – The Charleston! Dress in a Roaring 20’s style and receive a special prize for the best costume. Twenties’ attire not required.

It’s time to look like the “cat’s meow”, dress “to the nines”, and come on down to the Society’s Gatsby event and have a ball!!  Reserve your spot today for this widely anticipated event!

Garden Side Chickee Chats

This annual lecture series in the heart of the season features local experts who showcase a variety of topics related to our history. Past topics include a history of swamp buggies, the history of art in Naples, and southern-style bluegrass. Have an idea to share? Call us!

Chairs are provided, but bring your sun hats and sun glasses! Members are FREE!
Non-members $8.00. Reservations are required. Rain or shine! Refunds will be available if the Society cancels the event due to inclement weather. Or, you may choose to make a donation!

Christmas at Historic Palm Cottage

December 3 to 28, 2019

Celebrate a wonderful time of the year at the merriest place in Naples, Historic Palm Cottage, during our annual holiday showcase.  The Society’s Christmas at the Cottage comes with a twist!

If you love the sound of sleigh bells and the site of twinkling lights, then you won’t want to miss this year’s Christmas at Palm Cottage! Historic Palm Cottage will be appropriately dressed for the occasion, showcasing elegant holiday decor to warm the hearts of visitors.

Annual Christmas Gala – Signature Fundraiser

Friday, December 6, 2019 

This is our once annual fundraiser to support all the Society’s programs.

Individual tickets are $350/person or $550/pp for Patron tickets (your name will be listed in the Gala program).

By attending the Christmas Gala at Historic Palm Cottage, guests will enjoy an exquisite cocktail reception in Naples oldest house, followed by a seated dinner in The Norris Gardens. Naples best holiday party!

Donor Reception

March 19, 2020 – 5pm

This is a delightful party in The Norris Gardens exclusively for those who are part of the Mary S. Smith Chairman’s Council, are Lifetime Members or Club of 100! Members.  Held in the spring every year, this is the Society’s THANK YOU! to the philanthropic community.  Complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres are provided along with a brief update on Society business.  Call the Society for more information.

Brew in the Garden

January 17, 2020 5-8pm

Cheers to the 125th Anniversary of Historic Palm Cottage … enjoy a pint of your own to celebrate!  The 2020 season marks the second year of a wonderful 5-year partnership with Will Lawson, owner and brew master of Naples Beach Brewery, the first microbrewery in SWFL.  Brew in the Garden is quickly becoming one of the area’s best brew events.

Haldeman Hops will be unveiled this time around, following a successful kick-off with Palm Cottage Pilsner (2019).  Every year thereafter, we will introduce another specially brewed brew…in 2024, guests will be treated to ALL FIVE BREWS so that the crowd can vote on a favorite!   

What name will be unveiled in 2021, 2022 or 2023?  Stick with us to learn more.  How entertaining is this?!  $25/pp, Members $15, 5-8pm.  Reservations Required.

Anniversary OPEN HOUSE!

January 14 – 18, 2020 – Anniversary Open House.  Celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Historic Palm Cottage with us and other like-minded history-lovers!   Live remote with WAVV-101.1 is scheduled for the opening day, Tuesday, January 14!  The OPEN HOUSE is FREE to all from January 14-18, that’s Tuesday – Friday 12-4pm, Saturday 1-4pm.  No reservations are needed for this Anniversary week.

Clue at the Cottage

June 11, 2020 – 5-8pm 

You are invited to join this adult game of intrigue.  Use your inner sleuth to figure out the mystery during this exceptionally well written tour presentation.  This Clue event features a new missing item, so if you attended the 2019 event, be sure to return for this one!

Croquet at the Cottage

July 11, 2020 – Croquet at the Cottage!  Ever imagine playing croquet on a remarkable oval lawn surrounded by exquisite gardens?  This is your chance!  Play croquet in The Norris Gardens.  Society Rules!  1-4pm.  Adults $5/ball.  Tour of Historic Palm Cottage FREE.  No reservations needed.

What Naples Historical Society is all about…

The Society’s mission is to preserve Naples history and heritage for the community and future generations to enjoy. The strategy we employ to accomplish our mission is through the efficient production of ten (10) educational programs and five (5) preservation initiatives (see also What Do We Do?).

The Society’s flagship asset is also its Educational Headquarters — Historic Palm Cottage™. This 3,500 sq ft house-turned museum (which is Naples oldest house built in 1895) is listed as a Landmark in the National Register of Historic Places (listed in 1982). The Cottage serves as the portal to Naples history and is enjoyed by tens of thousands of children, residents and visitors alike every year.
