Pupils at Palm CottageTM
Collier County School Invitation - Children's Educational Program: Pupils at Palm CottageTM
Naples Historical Society is proud to participate with the local educational community, including both public and private schools, in providing the field trip choice for social studies teachers and their inquisitive history students. We want every student in the area to be able to be exposed to the history of Naples and understand the heritage of their community. After this FREE educational field trip, students become Pupils at Palm CottageSM.
Our children's education program, Pupils at Palm Cottage, is designed for early elementary school students. Pupils at Palm Cottage is a fun and engaging way to teach students about their community and its past. The program was founded and created by retired elementary teachers who understand FCAT requirements and the importance of outstanding field trips. Pupils at Palm Cottage also reinforces the Florida Department of Education's Character Education mandate (FL Statute 1003.42 Subsection S) to use stories that incorporate historical members of the community to instill a sense of the events and experiences that influenced the lives of the early residents of Naples. The program is endorsed by Jack Bovee, Coordinator of K-12 Social Studies for the Collier County School District.

Scheduling Details
Pupils at Palm Cottage is open to all public and private schools and other student groups in Collier County. The tour through Palm CottageTM and The Norris Gardens totals 55 minutes. Students are broken up into three groups while touring Palm CottageTM. The groups rotate every 15 minutes to a different part of the house museum. Once a group has toured all three sections the whole group is then led through The Norris Gardens for the final ten minutes of the tour. Pupils at Palm Cottage is considered by many to be one of the best field trips in Naples and Collier County. Help your students experience their hometown, not just read about it!
Thanks to a donation from a benefactor of the Naples Historical Society, a transportation reimbursement grant has been established to assist public school transportation expenses. This means this field trip is FREE!
Pupils at Palm Cottage tours are held Tuesday mornings in September, October, April, and May. Tours begin at 9, 10, and 11 a.m. For those classes that sign up for the 11 a.m. tour, you may enjoy your bagged lunch/drinks in The Norris Gardens at Palm CottageTM.
